Now’s the Time to Buy Recreational Property, Before Winter Hits
So, you’ve been thinking all year about buying your own recreational property so you can have a home base for all your outdoor activities. But now it’s October, and the first signs of winter are coming soon.
The good news? It isn’t too late to buy in 2017.
“We can help buyers narrow their choices quickly, focusing on what they care about, so there’s plenty of time to buy this year,” said Rod Osterloh of Close-Converse in Brainerd, Minnesota, a member of the Potlatch Preferred Broker Network.
In northern states like Minnesota and Idaho, it’s important to check out properties before the snow hits.
“It can be more difficult to tell everything you want to know about a property when snow is on the ground, such as details of the topography and vegetation,” said Tom Moore of United Country Northwest Land & Lifestyle Properties, a Potlatch Preferred Broker based outside Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. “We encourage buyers to make their visits before the snow hits, knowing they can buy a property and be ready for snowmobiling and cross-country skiing.”
And while snow may not be as much of a factor in the South, it’s more pleasant to walk the woods in the fall, before harsh weather makes it tougher to spend hours outdoors checking out properties.
“It’s important to get out of your vehicle and walk so you can see the terrain and timber,” said Jonathan Goode of Southeastern Land Group, a Potlatch Preferred Broker that sells land in Alabama for Potlatch. “There’s only so much you can see from the road. Buyers should be working with us now to figure out which properties they want to see, so we can make those visits happen.”
Winter buyers tell Potlatch brokers that they’re glad to have time for setting things up on their property before the coming year’s hunting seasons, and they find that winter can be a great time for outdoor excursions with friends and family.
With a wide selection of properties to fit the diverse needs of recreational buyers, the experts in the Potlatch Preferred Broker Network are well-qualified to help you find the property you’ve always wanted. With a deep knowledge of rural land and outdoor recreation, they can match you up with the tract that works for you. 2018 will be here before you know it, so there’s no need to wait any longer.
